Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center (CCECC) is a combined communications center operating under an inter-local agreement between the City of Sidney and Cheyenne County. Beginning operations on April 1, 1996, it provides a vital link of communications for the public and emergency response agencies and between responding agencies.

Some of the agencies served by CCECC include: Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office; Sidney Police Department; Emergency Response Care; fire departments & rescue units from Sidney, Potter, Dalton, Gurley, & Lodgepole; Region 21 Emergency Management; and Sidney utility departments (electric, water, street, handy-bus).

To report “Emergencies” (crimes in progress, serious accidents, fires, medical emergencies), all residents of Cheyenne County can reach this Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) by dialing 9-1-1. CCECC utilizes enhanced 911 (E911) that provides the dispatcher with the phone number and address for the location the call originates from. However, users of wireless cellular phones may need to provide information on the location of the incident they are reporting in addition to other details, as not all wireless providers transmit coordinates. When calling 911, remain calm and stay on the line until the dispatcher tells you to hang up.

To report non-emergency incidents or to talk with an official from a particular department, please call that department’s phone number: Cheyenne County Sheriff (308) 254-2922, Sidney Police Dept. (308) 254-5515, Crime Stoppers (308) 254-3344.
